PENRITH MAN SENTENCED AFTER EXPOSING HIMSELF TO DELIVERY WOMAN
A PENRITH man has been put on the Sex Offender Register after he was convicted of intentionally exposing himself to a delivery woman.
Gatis Ugriks, 42, denied committing the offence on September 4 last year, claiming that he answered the door while undressed because he had just got out of the shower.
But he was convicted after a trial.
Prosecutor George Shelley summarized the evidence, stating that the woman delivering at Ugriks' Langton Court address was initially met with friendliness and conversation from Ugriks.
He asked her if she was busy, to which she responded that she was, and he replied, ‘That’s a shame as we could have played together.’ It was then she realized Ugriks was fully naked and touching his private parts, leading her to leave feeling scared.
The victim described feeling shocked and violated, especially as the incident occurred in an isolated area, which increased her fear and anxiety about returning to work.
Ugriks, who had no previous criminal record, expects to lose his job due to this conviction.
The magistrates considered the assault serious due to location but noted no prior offending history.
They sentenced Ugriks to an 18-month community order including 20 rehabilitation days and 300 hours of unpaid work.
He must pay the victim £500 in compensation, £300 in costs, and a £114 victim surcharge.
Additionally, he will be on the Sex Offender Register for five years, requiring him to provide personal details to the police within three days and notify them before traveling abroad.
