PENRITH MAN DETAINED AFTER KILLING WIFE IN 'FEROCIOUS' ATTACK
A 48-year-old man named Robert Davidson, who is prominently featured in this case, was involved in a tragic incident where he killed his wife Judith Davidson in their home in White Ox Way, Penrith, Cumbria. The court heard that Davidson stabbed his wife to death in a 'ferocious' attack in August 2008, observed by their daughter who saw their father raining blows on her mother with a knife in each hand.
Davidson initially admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility, citing that he was suffering from a severe depressive episode which contributed to the killing.
The court concluded that the attack was 'ferocious' and indicated an intention to kill, resulting in Davidson being ordered to be detained indefinitely in a psychiatric hospital in Newcastle.
The family described Davidson as a 'control freak' and accused him of showing 'no remorse' for his actions.
