GARY TUBBY FROM FOLKESTONE JAILED FOR ABDUCTION IN KENT AND ESSEX
In a serious case that has drawn significant attention, 43-year-old Gary Tubby from Folkestone has been sentenced to nine months in prison after being found guilty of abducting a 15-year-old girl.The incident took place in the Haverhill area, where Tubby’s actions led to a police investigation that spanned several days.
According to court proceedings, authorities were able to track down the teenage girl, who was in care at the time, to Maidstone in Kent approximately four days after the abduction.
The case was brought before Ipswich Crown Court, where the details of the investigation and the defendant’s actions were thoroughly examined.
Gary Tubby, residing on Dover Road in Folkestone, admitted to the charge of child abduction.
The court was informed that the girl involved cannot be publicly identified due to legal restrictions aimed at protecting minors.
During the hearing, defense lawyer Marc Brown argued that Tubby was concerned about the perception of his actions, suggesting that there was a worry that inappropriate sexual behavior might be inferred.
However, the presiding judge, Judge John Devaux, clarified that Tubby was not charged with any sexual misconduct.
Instead, the court sentenced him for what was described as “gross irresponsibility.” The court heard that Tubby had developed a relationship with the girl and had even helped her when she attempted to run away from her care facility.
Furthermore, he had falsely told police that he was unaware of her whereabouts, a statement that was proven to be untrue during the investigation.
