GARY HILL/ KING DUNDEE SCARFACE-INSPIRED STALKER JAILED FOR ABUSIVE CAMPAIGN AGAINST WOMEN

On January 19, 2015, a disturbing case unfolded in Dundee involving Gary Hill, also known by the moniker 'Gary Montana,' who was sentenced to 22 months in prison for a relentless campaign of harassment and abuse directed at two women. Hill, aged 31, adopted a persona reminiscent of the infamous film character Tony Montana from the movie Scarface, and his actions reflected a disturbing attempt to exert control and dominance over his victims.

According to court reports, Hill's behavior was characterized by obsessive communication and intimidation tactics. He inundated Lori Brown with hundreds of text messages and phone calls, often leaving voicemails that featured gangster rap music, further emphasizing his self-styled gangster persona. In a particularly manipulative move, Hill falsely claimed to be suffering from terminal cancer in a bid to rekindle her affection, demonstrating his willingness to exploit emotional vulnerabilities.

His abusive conduct extended to Laura King, with whom he had a relationship that began in May of the previous year. During an incident when Laura attempted to intervene as Hill was attacking a dog with a chain, he threatened to physically assault her with the same dog lead. The threats escalated further when Laura decided to throw him out of her house; Hill responded by threatening to acquire a gun and shoot her, revealing a dangerous level of aggression and intent.

Prosecutor Vicki Bell addressed the court, stating, “He ingratiated himself with these women and once the relationship was established, he took on the persona of Tony Montana from the film Scarface and became aggressive and abusive. Miss Brown quickly noticed that the accused liked to adopt the persona of being a gangster and would refer to himself as ‘Gary Montana’ and often listened to gangster rap music.”

Additional details from the court proceedings revealed that Lori Brown was left in a state of terror when Hill, during a heated argument, picked up a kitchen knife and pointed it towards her from a distance of about three to four feet, shouting and swearing at her. Laura King also reported noticing strange and threatening behavior from Hill weeks after their relationship began, with Hill making disturbing claims that if they were to be a couple, she would become his property, and he could do whatever he wanted with her.

Hill, who is currently detained at HMP Perth, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including two counts of threatening and abusive behavior, one of stalking, and one of breach of the peace. Dundee Sheriff Court, presided over by Sheriff Alastair Brown, sentenced him to 22 months in prison and imposed a five-year non-harassment order to prevent any contact with his victims.

Sheriff Brown condemned Hill’s conduct, stating, “It was highly manipulative behavior. Your attitude to women is deplorable. It is utterly unacceptable in 21st century Scotland to have the attitude to women that you manifested.” The case drew parallels to the infamous character portrayed by Al Pacino in the 1983 film Scarface, where the character famously declared, “Say hello to my little friend,” as he prepared for violence.
