CRAIG MONTAGUE'S HORRIFIC KNIFE ATTACK IN DUNDEE LEAVES DOGS TERRIFIED
In a disturbing incident that unfolded in Dundee, Craig Montague, a resident known for his volatile behavior, engaged in a frightening assault involving his pets and a deadly weapon. The incident began when Montague, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, became enraged after being asked to retrieve his dogs, Nova and Kilo, from a relative’s house due to concerns over their behavior, specifically their habit of gnawing on furniture.According to reports presented at Dundee Sheriff Court, Montague’s anger escalated rapidly. He produced a large, menacing knife, which he referred to as his “ZK,” a weapon with a black sheath strapped to his chest. The knife was described as a “zombie” style blade, approximately 10 inches long, with a terrifying appearance that clearly indicated its lethal potential.
Montague’s actions were described as aggressive and threatening. He pinned his XL Bully-cross dog, Nova, onto a bed, using the flat side of the blade to push the animal down. Witnesses reported that he shouted abuse at Nova during the attack, creating a highly distressing scene. In a further display of hostility, Montague threatened to stab his other dog, Kilo, adding to the severity of the incident.
Sheriff Tim Niven-Smith condemned Montague’s behavior, emphasizing the danger posed by such weapons. He stated, “There can be no legitimate purpose for any person possessing the type of knife you possessed. It’s terrifying in appearance and obviously of lethal propensity. There can be no place in our society for knives of this kind.”
Montague’s criminal history includes a previous conviction in 2015 for similar threats involving a knife, highlighting a pattern of violent and threatening conduct. As a result of his latest actions, he was sentenced to two years in prison. Following his release, he will be subject to a strict 12-month supervised release order, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his behavior and adherence to legal restrictions.
