ABUSIVE MAN JAILED FOR STREET ATTACK AND PHARMACY BURGLARY IN RHYL
Gary Faulkner, aged 35, of Beechwood Road in Rhyl, was convicted of multiple offences including assault causing actual bodily harm against his former partner.
The court heard that Faulkner had subjected his partner to a series of abusive acts over a few days.
He initially assaulted her by slapping her face, pouring water on her, and throwing a tray of wooden chippings at her.
Despite her attempts to escape, Faulkner returned with a metal dog lead, which he used to hit her on the thigh in the street, causing her to scream.
A neighbour observed the incident and called the police, at which point Faulkner rode away on a bike.
The woman expressed her fear of Faulkner in a victim statement.
Faulkner also broke into a pharmacy in Rhyl on July 28 of the previous year, stealing 10 boxes of prescription medication including diazepam.
Subsequently, he tried to persuade his sister to get her to withdraw her statement about the incident, which led to charges of perverting the course of justice.
Additionally, police found a curved sword at his residence.
Faulkner admitted possession of an offensive weapon.
He was sentenced to 16 months for the assault, 4 months for burglary, 2 months for possession of an offensive weapon, and 4 months for perverting the course of justice, totaling 25 months in prison.
He was also handed a 10-year restraining order against the victim.
