GARY CAMPBELL DEVON PAEDOPHILE SENTENCED AFTER PREYING ON BOYS NEAR WARRINGTON SUBWAY

Gary Campbell, a man from Dolton in Devon, has been handed a lengthy prison sentence after a series of disturbing offenses involving young boys. The court proceedings revealed that Campbell had been actively targeting children in the Warrington area, specifically near a subway underpass in Vulcan Close. His predatory behavior took place between July 24 and July 30, 2023, during which he approached young boys and attempted to lure them with offers of money in exchange for sexual acts.

Authorities launched an investigation following reports from concerned parents who noticed their children being approached by an unidentified man in the Vulcan Close underpass. The police quickly identified Campbell as the suspect, and subsequent inquiries uncovered his troubling history. Campbell had previously admitted to a range of serious offenses, including causing a child to engage in sexual activity, sexual assault, paying for sexual services of a child, and possessing indecent images of children.

On August 25, Campbell was arrested by law enforcement officers. During the course of the investigation, authorities examined his mobile phone, which contained category C indecent images of children, further confirming his involvement in child exploitation. Campbell ultimately pleaded guilty to multiple sexual offenses involving young boys, acknowledging his guilt in court.

His appearance at Liverpool Crown Court on February 26 resulted in a sentence of nine years in prison. Additionally, he was handed a five-year extension on license, meaning he will be under supervision for a significant period after his release. The court also imposed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which restricts his activities and contact with minors, and mandated that he remain on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Detective Constable Danielle Taylor commented on the case, emphasizing the severity of Campbell’s actions and the importance of the investigation. She noted that Campbell showed no remorse for his crimes and praised the bravery of the young victims and their families for coming forward. The police reaffirmed their dedication to prosecuting offenders like Campbell to safeguard the community and prevent further harm.
