WARWICK THERAPIST JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON WOMEN
A man named Gagandeep Sharman, aged 37, from Warwick, has been convicted and sentenced for sexually assaulting two women.According to court reports, Sharman initially denied three charges of sexual assault involving two victims but later pleaded guilty at Warwick Crown Court to one offence against each woman.
He was sentenced to 26 months in prison, ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years, and received a restraining order prohibiting him from contacting the victims.
The incidents occurred over different dates, with the first involving his approach and inappropriate behavior towards a hospital nurse and a woman at her home.
The court heard that in 2019, Sharman visited a man with health problems and was seen acting professionally during his initial visits.
However, later incidents revealed more serious misconduct, including one where he pressed against a woman in her coat and attempted to grop her, even making sexual remarks and pressing his groin against her.
Despite her protests and attempts to resist, he continued his assault until she managed to escape.
When arrested, Sharman claimed his actions were merely a hug as a colleague and denied touching her sexually.
His lawyer described his remorse and said he had received counseling.
The court was told that these actions led to him losing his occupational therapy job, and he is now working as a delivery driver.
The judge emphasized the disgraceful conduct, highlighting the inappropriate and sexual nature of Sharman's behavior, and stated that the sentence of immediate imprisonment was necessary to punish his actions and protect others.
