OXFORDSHIRE CHEF FOUND WITH HUNDREDS OF CHILDREN IMAGES
An Oxfordshire chef has been sentenced after he was found with hundreds of indecent images of children as young as four.
The 37-year-old, Gabriel Braneanu of Poplar Grove, Kennington, had a total of 793 indecent images of children, Oxford Crown Court heard.
He pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children and one count of possessing 10 extreme pornographic images of a person performing a sexual act on a dog.
Meera Yagnik, prosecuting, told the court that Thames Valley Police was alerted to an indecent category A video being uploaded to Whatsapp in November 2023.
The number was linked to Braneanu.
Police officers attended his address and found illicit material on his devices.
The images were recorded between August 2019 and March 2023, consisting of 263 category A, 13 category B, and 398 category C images.
Aaron Riley, mitigation, stated that Braneanu exhibits remorse and is a vulnerable man, with trauma from his childhood.
He does not leave his home except for work.
Braneanu works as a chef.
He was sentenced on Thursday, November 27, to 16 months in prison, suspended for two years.
He is required to complete up to 40 days of rehabilitation, 12 days of mental health rehab, 200 hours of unpaid work within a year, and pay costs of £150.
A 10-year sexual harm prevention order and notification requirements were imposed.
Devices were ordered to be forfeited.
