PERTH MAN JAILED FOR SERIES OF VIOLENT ATTACKS ON WOMEN AND TEEN
A man named Frederick Mills has been sentenced to six years in prison following a series of violent assaults against women over several years.During the attack, Mills left one of his victims struggling to breathe after strangling her in what was described as a murder bid at a house in Perth.
The 53-year-old was also found to have assaulted another woman and a teenage girl in the city prior to the attempted murder.
Specific incidents include one woman being seized by the neck and pushed into a lavatory, and a 14-year-old girl being chased and pinned against a cupboard door.
Although Mills denied committing these violent offences, he was convicted of attempted murder committed between 2011 and 2013, along with four other assault charges against a woman and a teenager from 2005.
At the High Court in Edinburgh, Lady Wise sentenced him to six years' imprisonment and ordered him to be supervised for an additional three years.
Detective Chief Inspector Samantha McCluskey of the National Domestic Abuse Task Force highlighted the lengthy police investigation, which was greatly aided by Mills's previous partners who also suffered violence at his hands.
She paid tribute to the victims for their bravery in coming forward, stating, “It’s thanks to their bravery that we were able to catalogue his violent history and bring him to justice.”
