MAN JAILED FOR ASSAULTING EX-GIRLFRIEND ON MOTORWAY
An NHS manager received a one-year prison sentence after assaulting his former girlfriend on the way back from Royal Ascot 2025.Floyd Johnson encountered his ex-partner unexpectedly at the racecourse; the two had been in a relationship for five years until 2023, a court was informed.
The 58-year-old had offered to drive the woman home, but his car experienced a breakdown during the trip, forcing him to pull onto the hard shoulder of the M4 motorway, according to prosecutors.
Prosecutor Laura Jones stated: “He punched her in the faces with a closed fist, hit her several times and put his hands on her neck and strangled her.
“She had to bite the defendant to try and get him off of her, she tried to make a phone call to the police but the defendant took the phone off of her.” The incident was recorded on CCTV footage, which staff members from National Highways Group observed and subsequently called law enforcement about, Reading Crown Court was told.
