MAN JAILED FOR 19 YEARS OVER SERIES OF SICKENING ATTACKS
A Coventry man has been sentenced to nearly two decades in prison for assaulting and raping a woman in a series of brutal incidents spanning almost a year and a half.Farnaz Farabi used a hammer to attack the woman, engaged in sexual assault, held a knife to her neck, and poured boiling water over her body during a prolonged period of abuse.
The case was brought to attention when colleagues expressed concerns after noticing facial injuries in March of this year.
An investigation by the Public Protection Unit revealed that the victim had sustained multiple injuries, including a broken hand and ankle, as well as a fractured nose and various cuts at different times.
Farabi initially denied any involvement but pleaded guilty to charges of rape and wounding during a trial at Warwick Crown Court earlier in the year.
Now 28 years old, residing in Jasmine Grove, Coventry, he received a jail sentence of 19 years on Wednesday, with an additional seven years on extended licence.
Pc Ellis Burbidge, who led the case, stated: “This was horrific physical and sexual abuse of a vulnerable woman over a sustained period of time.
"What the woman experienced was horrific.
She has sustained extensive and permanent scarring across her body and is continuing to rebuild her life in a safe environment surrounded by support.
