TWO EVIL MEN JAILED OVER REPEATED RAPE OF YOUNG CHILD
Two men deemed to be 'dangerous' have received life sentences after being convicted of sexually assaulting an infant.Ethan Towers, aged 27 and from St Ives in Cambridgeshire, was responsible for raping the baby on five separate occasions last summer.
Meanwhile, John Watson, 28 from Westcliff-on-Sea in Essex, was found to have encouraged Towers' abuse.
Both men pleaded guilty to various charges, with Towers receiving a minimum term of 12 years and five months, and Watson sentenced to 13 years and four months in prison.
During the sentencing at Cambridge Crown Court on Wednesday, Judge Mark Bishop highlighted the child's extreme youth as a compelling factor, affirming that both defendants posed a danger and represented a threat to public safety.
Court proceedings revealed that Towers had shared indecent images of children with Watson.
The judge also considered victim impact statements one from the baby's mother expressing her feelings of heightened isolation and fear, and another from the child, who stated that they felt a sense of liberation following the convictions.
It was disclosed that Watson previously held a sexual harm prevention order due to past convictions related to indecent images of children.
In earlier proceedings, Towers admitted to five counts of rape and other offenses involving indecent images, while Watson pleaded guilty to inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and possessing indecent images, along with other related crimes.
Cambridgeshire Police confirmed the case was referred to child safeguarding authorities.
Both men were issued restraining orders, and they were ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £228.
