BEDWORTH MAN EDWARD FOSTER JAILED FOR ONLINE GROOMING
A 77-year-old man named Edward Foster has been found guilty and received a prison sentence of three years and one month following his plea of guilty to several charges related to online grooming and soliciting sexual conversation with minors.Warwickshire Police investigators discovered proof that Foster was communicating via the internet with two girls he believed to be under the age of 16; both were, in fact, decoys set up by authorities.
During their chats, he encouraged the girls to conceal their messages and delete any evidence, while also requesting one of them to send explicit images of herself.
Foster had also arranged to meet one of the girls at Bedworth Train Station in August 2022.
Police were informed of the plan and arrested him at the location.
He was brought before Warwick Crown Court on 29 January 2024, where he was sentenced accordingly.
Foster also faced two convictions in the West Midlands, involving similar behaviors such as grooming a girl online and attempting to obtain sexual conversations, as well as meeting up with a girl under 16.
Detective Constable Sam Hughes from Warwickshire Police commented that Foster is a dangerous individual who targeted young girls online with grooming and planned to meet one of them in Bedworth.
Hughes highlighted the importance of parental vigilance, cautioning that predators like Foster use social media to groom minors and urging parents to monitor their children’s online activities carefully.
