EDGAR KUDZOYAN FROM GLASGOW SENTENCED FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT AT PARTY
In a case that has shocked the local community in Glasgow, Edgar Kudzhoyan, a 23-year-old Russian asylum seeker, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for a serious sexual assault that took place during a gathering in the Knightswood area of the city.According to court reports, Kudzhoyan attacked a 17-year-old girl in a bedroom at a flat in Knightswood.
The assault was particularly disturbing, as Kudzhoyan forcibly raped the young woman, leaving a lasting impact on her and the community.
The incident occurred in May 2009, and the case drew significant media attention due to the severity of the crime and Kudzhoyan’s status as an asylum seeker.
Adding to the gravity of his criminal record, Kudzhoyan was also found to have indecently assaulted a 14-year-old girl on the same night in June 2005.
This earlier attack was captured on mobile phone cameras, and Kudzhoyan received a six-month sentence to run concurrently with his other sentence.
The footage of the assault further underscored the disturbing pattern of his behavior.
Following his conviction last month for the rape and lewd conduct, Kudzhoyan was brought back to the High Court in Glasgow for sentencing.
During the proceedings, Lord Turnbull, the presiding judge, delivered a stern message to Kudzhoyan, stating, “You lost your moral framework and behaved in a reprehensible fashion, letting down your family.” In addition to his prison sentence, Kudzhoyan was placed on the sex offenders’ register, reflecting the seriousness of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
Kudzhoyan, who resides in Dennistoun, Glasgow, now faces the consequences of his actions, which have left a lasting scar on his victims and the city’s social fabric.
