DYLON GIBSON FROM RHUDDLAN CAUGHT WITH OVER 200,000 CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN SHOCKING CASE
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Rhuddlan, Dylan Gibson, a 22-year-old man residing on Gwindy Street, was found to possess an alarming number of indecent images and videos involving children. The investigation was triggered when Gibson’s mother, while borrowing his laptop in May, discovered a video she deemed 'thoroughly disgusting,' which led her to confront her son and subsequently alert the police.Police officers seized Gibson’s electronic devices, including a tablet computer and a mobile phone, for examination. The forensic analysis revealed a staggering collection of over 200,000 images, with only a sample being classified by experts. Among these, authorities identified more than 250 images and nearly 400 videos categorized as Category A, the most severe classification for child exploitation material.
Gibson, who was already under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) imposed in October 2015 after admitting to possessing more than 1,400 indecent images of children, faced additional charges. He pleaded guilty to charges of possessing indecent images of children, as well as prohibited and extreme pornographic content. His offending was described by the presiding judge, Timothy Petts, as 'thoroughly disgusting.'
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that the severity of his crimes was compounded by his previous conviction and the sheer volume of illicit material found on his devices. The court also imposed a new SHPO, which will be in effect for ten years, and ordered that Gibson’s details remain on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
Further investigation uncovered that Gibson had installed multiple applications designed to conceal his online activity. One such application reportedly indicated that his mobile phone’s location was in the south of Namibia at the time of the investigation.
In police interviews, Gibson admitted to requesting indecent images via social media and exchanging such material with others. His actions have been described as 'utterly reprehensible' by the authorities, highlighting the gravity of his offenses and the ongoing threat posed by individuals involved in the distribution and possession of child exploitation images.
