DYLON DIOR FROM NEWMARKET SENTENCED FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES OFFENCES

In October 2014, a man from Newmarket with a troubled childhood background was sentenced to a suspended prison term after admitting to charges related to child abuse images.

Dylan Dior, aged 31, was present at his residence on Noel Murless Drive when police officers executed a search warrant.

During the raid, Dior voluntarily directed officers to the location of digital images stored on his computer.

Authorities uncovered a disturbing collection that included 16 indecent photographs of children and a video, alongside over 4,000 computer-generated drawings depicting inappropriate content.

Dior faced multiple charges, pleading guilty to eight counts of creating indecent images of children, one count of possessing such images, and another of distributing them.

The prosecution, led by Christopher Youell, highlighted that Dior had fully admitted to his actions.

It was also revealed that Dior had sent some of these images to an individual he had met through an online chat platform.

This act of distribution might have gone unnoticed if Dior had not disclosed his activities voluntarily.

During police interviews, Dior explained that he had experienced abuse only once during his childhood.

He claimed that possessing and viewing these images provided him with a sense of comfort, describing it as feeling “safe and warm.” The court heard that Dior’s early life was marred by significant health issues, including a stroke that resulted in physical disabilities, as well as epilepsy and depression.

His defense lawyer, Steven Dyble, emphasized Dior’s immaturity and health struggles, suggesting these factors contributed to his actions.

Judge John Devaux, presiding over the case at Ipswich Crown Court, expressed concern over Dior’s lack of maturity and the adverse childhood experiences he endured.

The judge acknowledged Dior’s ongoing health problems and noted that he was considered to pose a low risk of reoffending.

As a result, Dior was sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for two years.

Additionally, he was ordered to remain under supervision by the Probation Service for 24 months and to participate in the Internet Sex Offenders Treatment Programme.

The court also ordered the confiscation of Dior’s computer and two storage devices used to store the illegal images.

Furthermore, Dior was placed on the Sexual Offences Register for a period of ten years, reflecting the seriousness of his offences.
