MAN JAILED FOR LIFE FOR STABBING EX-GIRLFRIEND TO DEATH
In a court case, Charles Jessop was found guilty of the murder of Clare Nash, his former partner, in a planned and unprovoked assault. The incident took place on 16 January 2020, when Nash, a 33-year-old mother of two, was attacked at her residence in Newmarket, Suffolk.
She was stabbed repeatedly and strangled, with court evidence indicating that Jessop, aged 30, carried a knife, cycled to her flat, and waited until she returned to carry out the assault.
Despite calling emergency services, Nash succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
The court also noted that their relationship was marked by multiple violent episodes, with Jessop reportedly exhibiting obsessive behavior towards Nash.
She had reported his conduct to police on the day she died, and her risk level was determined to be medium.
Jessop entered a guilty plea for manslaughter but maintained that he did not intend to kill.
He received a life imprisonment sentence with a minimum of 30 years.
The case also sparked an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct, which is still in progress.
