A STALKER WHO TOLD HIS FORMER GIRLFRIEND HE WAS “GUNNING FOR HER” HAS BEEN JAILED
Nigel James, aged 62, verbally mistreated the victim and repeatedly made derogatory remarks about her weight and clothing, leading to the dissolution of their two-year relationship in November of the previous year.Following his departure from their shared residence in Harston, near Cambridge, James started sending the victim abusive messages and emails.
He threatened her, claiming he was “gunning for her” and vowed to “ruin her life”.
He also expressed that she was not safe and issued a chilling warning: “I have got enough weapons and tools to deal with you,” adding that she was “gonna feel pain”.
In February, James continued his harassment by sending multiple voice messages to the victim, warning “if she wanted war, she could have war,” and included other insults.
These threats caused the victim to feel persistently anxious, especially when leaving her workplace late at night.
She often called friends or family for reassurance during her commute, fearing James might harm her.
His threatening behaviour persisted into March, with James warning he would “bury her”.
In May, the victim reported the abuse to the police, describing her life as “a living hell” due to James’s actions.
James was detained by authorities and initially denied the allegations during the police interview until officers played the voice messages back to him.
On Monday, 22 December, at Peterborough Crown Court, James, of St Marys Square, Newmarket, Suffolk, received a one-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to stalking with a fear of violence during a hearing the previous month.
A restraining order was also issued against him.
