DONALD MOUG FROM METHILL SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF GIRLS IN FIFE

A man from Methill, identified as 58-year-old Donald Moug, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 12 years after being found guilty of multiple serious sexual offenses involving young girls in the Fife area. The disturbing series of crimes spanned over a period of more than 16 years, from 2003 to 2019, and involved the abuse of three different minors.

According to court records, Moug’s first known victim was a girl who was only 14 years old when he began targeting her. His predatory behavior included repeated acts of molestation, and at one point, he attempted to carry out a rape. These heinous acts took place at various locations, with the initial abuse starting in the early 2000s. Moug, who was then residing on Taylor Street in Methil, continued his assault on this girl over an extended period, causing significant trauma.

In addition to this, Moug’s criminal conduct extended to another young girl, whom he exposed himself to and sexually abused over a six-year span. This victim was just six years old when the abuse commenced, and Moug’s actions escalated to the point of rape. The severity of his crimes against this child was particularly egregious, given her age and the prolonged nature of the abuse.

The third victim was a girl aged nine when Moug began molesting her. His predatory behavior towards her was also part of the lengthy pattern of sexual misconduct that ultimately led to his conviction.

Throughout the trial at the High Court in Edinburgh, Moug maintained his innocence, denying all charges. However, the evidence presented was compelling enough to secure a conviction on multiple counts, including indecent conduct, sexual assault, attempted rape, and rape. The court found him guilty of all charges, leading to his sentencing.

It was also revealed that Moug had a prior conviction for a sex offense, which contributed to the court’s decision to place him on the sex offenders register indefinitely. His criminal history and the nature of his recent offenses underscore the serious threat he posed to the community, especially to vulnerable children in the Fife region.
