MAN RIPPED GIRLFRIEND'S TEETH OUT WITH PLIERS
A man has been sentenced to life imprisonment after committing a series of acts of domestic violence, including the horrific act of ripping out his girlfriend’s teeth with pliers. The victim recounted to the jury how her teeth clattered onto the floor as Jeffrey pulled them out, and he then mockingly told her, 'Give me a smile.' The High Court in Paisley also heard that she was repeatedly raped by Jeffrey.
Additionally, he attempted to drown her in a cold bath and threatened to throw her out of a 17th-floor window.
Jeffrey further assaulted her by hitting her with a hammer on the legs and head, and dropping heavy dumbbells onto her body after demanding she lie on the ground.
It was also revealed that the 44-year-old from Glasgow had physically abused another woman, striking her on the arm with a martial arts weapon while she was heavily pregnant.
He was found guilty of 13 charges, including attempted murder, five counts of rape, and multiple assaults, in a trial held earlier this year.
The judge sentenced him to ten years in prison before he becomes eligible for parole.
Jeffrey was also ordered to be registered on the Sex Offenders' Register indefinitely.
In addition, a lifelong sexual offences prevention order was imposed, meaning he will remain under supervision for life after release.
Passing sentence, Lord Matthews stated that Jeffrey had controlled and inflicted extreme emotional and physical cruelty on his victims, as well as sexual violence.
Jeffrey’s first victim testified she had gone to his Maryhill home in June last year for a meal and drinks.
He suddenly became enraged upon discovering her talking to other men on Facebook.
After hitting her multiple times, he forced her to retrieve a pair of pliers, which she handed over out of fear despite knowing his intentions.
She described her terror, recalling that Jeffrey threatened to extract her teeth with the pliers and that she was unable to refuse, fearing the consequences.
The victim observed her teeth being pulled out one by one and remembered about eight being extracted, which remain unrepaired to this day.
Jeffrey then made her stand before a mirror, commenting on her appearance and demanding a smile.
She only reported the abuse to police last year, after trying to hide it by claiming she was involved in cycling accidents.
The court also convicted Jeffrey of five criminal offenses involving a second woman, including two rapes, indecent assault, and two further assaults between 1994 and 1998.
It was disclosed that Jeffrey already had three previous convictions for serious crimes, including robbery, firearms offenses, and drug-related crimes.
As he was taken to the cells in handcuffs, Jeffrey showed no emotion.
