DEREHAM MAN SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS FOR RAPE AND ABH
A man from Dereham has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after being convicted of raping a woman in South Norfolk.Don Gallier, aged 32 and residing on Crane Close, was sentenced at Norwich Crown Court following his conviction on two counts of rape and one count of actual bodily harm (ABH) after a six-day trial last month.
The offenses occurred in the South Norfolk area between July 2011 and April 2015 and involved a single victim, who is protected by legal confidentiality.
Gallier had previously been found guilty of the charges and was ordered to be on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
The investigation was initiated in April of the previous year after the victim came forward.
Detective Constable Sally Barker of the Rape Investigation Unit acknowledged the victim’s courage in reporting the crimes and expressed hope that the sentence would help her find closure and move forward.
The case has had a severe impact on the victim and her family.
