MAN JAILED FOR MULTIPLE VIOLENT ACTS AGAINST EX
A man named Dominic Connor Fullerty Ellis, residing at Linden Court, Linden Avenue in Connah's Quay, Flintshire, has been sentenced to prison after committing multiple violent acts against his former partner. He was convicted of kicking, punching, choking, strangling, and unlawfully keeping her confined inside his home.
When she attempted to escape over a fence, Ellis forcibly pulled her back, causing her additional injuries.
While in prison, Ellis continued to harass his ex-partner by making repeated phone calls, including on Christmas Day, effectively ruining her holiday.
He pleaded guilty to charges including assault causing actual bodily harm, false imprisonment, breaching a non-molestation order, and violating a suspended sentence order.
During the sentencing, mitigation argued that Ellis was young, had been cooperating outside of prison, and was making constructive use of his detention.
Nevertheless, Judge Timothy Petts sentenced him to four years and one month in custody.
The judge highlighted that in September 2020, Ellis had assaulted his partner and damaged her coat, breaching a suspended sentence for robbery.
Although he was making progress at the time, within days of that order, he assaulted and illegally confined her again after discovering her actions while incarcerated.
The court detailed that during an altercation at his residence, Ellis physically assaulted her kicking, strangling, punching, and dragging her and refused to let her leave, confining her inside the property.
When she attempted to escape by climbing a fence, he pulled her back and caused further injuries.
It was revealed that his infant daughter, only 11 months old, was present during these incidents.
Further, while on remand, Ellis breached a non-molestation order multiple times by contacting his ex and using offensive language, demonstrating an attempt to dominate and humiliate her even from behind bars.
His actions culminated in a phone call on Christmas Day, which the judge said ruined her holiday and inflicted significant psychological harm, causing her serious distress.
