DILBAHADUR RAYAMAJHI SENTENCED IN BARNSEY FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
In a case that has shocked the community of Barnsley, Dilbahadur Rayamajhi, aged 45, has been sentenced to nearly ten years in prison for serious child sex offences committed over a span of three years within the town.The investigation into Rayamajhi’s actions was initiated in April 2017 after a young girl, who was a victim of his abuse, confided her concerns to her school supervisor.
This disclosure prompted immediate action from school authorities, who then reported the matter to the police, setting in motion a detailed investigation.
Detective Constable Elinor Duke, who led the inquiry, explained that the police began their investigation once the concerns were raised.
The victim, who was under 13 years old at the time of the offences, provided a detailed account of the abuse she endured at the hands of Rayamajhi.
Her testimony was crucial in building the case against him.
During police interviews, Rayamajhi initially denied the allegations, which included one count of assault by penetration and four counts of sexual touching.
His denial meant that the young girl had to relive her traumatic experiences as she recounted the abuse during the investigation.
Following a two-week trial, the jury reached a verdict on Friday, 25 January, finding Rayamajhi guilty of all charges.
The court subsequently sentenced him to nine years in prison, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the impact on his young victim.
The case has garnered significant attention in Barnsley, highlighting the importance of vigilance and swift action in protecting vulnerable children from abuse.
