DENYS MCALLAN, FORMER WINSFORD RESIDENT, SENTENCED IN CHESTER COURT
In April 2008, a 61-year-old man formerly of Winsford, Denys McAllan, received a three-year supervision order after pleading guilty to sexually touching a 14-year-old girl. The incident occurred on November 14 of the previous year. During sentencing at Chester Crown Court on April 4, a section 39 order was issued, which prohibits the identification of the girl and the location of the offence. McAllan, who once resided in Victoria Square, was required to sign the Sex Offenders Register, was instructed to reside at a property in Merseybank, Manchester for up to six months, and was ordered to participate in the Northumbria Sex Offender Groupwork Programme. Prosecutor Desmond Parry explained that at approximately 6:30 pm on the evening in question, McAllan entered a house and went into the living room with the girl. She demonstrated how to operate a recliner chair, and he sat beside her. He then rested his head on her shoulder and placed his hands under her school shirt to touch her breasts. The girl managed to shrug him off and subsequently went home. Addressing McAllan, Recorder of Chester Judge Elgan Edwards remarked, "What you did was very wrong and you know it was very wrong. It was a moment of madness on your part and I hope it will never happen again. I hope that this is the first and last time that you appear in this court." McAllan stood silently and showed a solemn demeanor as the sentence was read.
