A FATHER-OF-TWO has been jailed for seven years for raping a teenager while another youth slept in a bunk bed below.
Dennis Outten, aged 41, of Bechers, Hough Green, Widnes, was sentenced at Knutsford Crown Court last Friday after being found guilty of raping a 17-year-old girl, also of Widnes, at his home on July 4 last year.
The court heard how Outten plied a group of young friends with alcohol at his home before attacking the girl, who had been sleeping, in a bunk bed.
The court was told how a 15-year-old boy, who was in the bunk below, slept throughout the ordeal.
However, Outten was arrested after the victim reported the incident to police soon after the incident.
He was sentenced to six-and-a-half years for the offence, but will also serve six months consecutively for breaching a suspended sentence.
DC Tim Cope, of Cheshire Police, who led the police investigation, said: "We are glad the matter has been finalised and everyone can now move on with their lives.
We are satisfied that we have managed to get a conviction after such a thorough investigation.
This shows that we do not take this type of crime lightly.
The family has been traumatised by this terrible incident and would like to put it behind them."
