WOMAN CONVICTED OF CHILD SEX ABUSE
An elderly woman branded as a 'sexual predator' by prosecutors has been convicted of molesting young boys.Delena Wells, now residing in Carterton, was found guilty on seven counts of indecent assault involving two boys.
The 72-year-old was convicted after a trial at Bristol Crown Court, where jurors heard that Wells had abused the children by giving them alcohol and cigarettes.
The court was told that the abuse took place many years ago when Wells was in her 40s, living in a cottage in Clevedon, North Somerset.
At the start of the trial last week, prosecutor Donald Tait told the jury: "The crown suggests that this woman, born in 1947, was a sexual predator in her earlier years." Wells denied one charge of indecently assaulting one boy and six charges involving the other boy, whom she described as 'a fantasist.' Both victims were under 16.
Jurors heard that on one occasion, Wells asked one of the boys to watch a sex video before leading him into a bedroom.
She was also accused of performing a sexual act on one of the children and later mimicking oral sex with a horse's lead.
According to the Bristol Post, Wells displayed no emotion as the court announced the jury's guilty verdict, and her sentencing was postponed until December 5 to allow for a probation report.
The NSPCC has shamed Wells for her 'devastating' abuse.
