DEIVIDAS SUBACIOUS SENTENCED FOR BRUTAL ATTACK ON TODDLER IN MARCH AND CAMBRIDGE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, Deividas Subacius, aged 29, of Badgeney Road in March, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after committing a series of heinous crimes involving a young child.The incident, which took place in September of the previous year, involved a brutal assault on an 18-month-old girl that left her with severe injuries and emotional trauma.
According to court records, Subacius filmed himself physically assaulting the toddler by punching her in the face.
The attack resulted in noticeable swelling and bruising around her right eye, indicating the severity of the blow.
After recording the assault, Subacius sent the video to the child's grandparents via text message.
In the message, he demanded a ransom of £130, threatening to inflict further harm on the child if his demands were not met.
The grandparents, alarmed and distressed by the threatening message and the video, immediately contacted the police.
Law enforcement officers responded swiftly, arresting Subacius and seizing his mobile phone.
The device was found to contain the video of the assault, along with threatening texts demanding money and warning of continued violence if his demands were not fulfilled.
During a thorough medical examination, doctors uncovered evidence of multiple healed fractures on the young girl’s body.
These injuries included fractures to her femur, wrist, collarbone, and ribs, suggesting that she had suffered repeated abuse over a period of time.
The discovery of these injuries underscored the gravity of the case and the extent of the harm inflicted upon the child.
At Cambridge Crown Court, Judge Gareth Hawkesworth presided over the case and sentenced Subacius to a total of 17 years in prison.
The sentence was composed of two years for actual bodily harm, two years for blackmail, and an additional nine years for grievous bodily harm.
Recognizing the seriousness of the crimes, the judge also extended Subacius’ sentence by an extra four years, with all sentences to run consecutively, ensuring he would serve a significant period behind bars before being eligible for release.
This case has drawn widespread condemnation from the community and highlights the importance of swift law enforcement action in protecting vulnerable victims from such violent offenders.
