DEANE ANDERTON SHOCKS NORWICH WITH SEXUAL MISCONDUCT AT WYMONDHAM COLLEGE

A former physical education teacher at a prestigious boarding school in Norfolk has been dismissed following a thorough investigation that uncovered serious allegations of sexual misconduct.

Deane Anderton, who previously served as a PE instructor at Wymondham College in Norfolk, was found guilty of engaging in inappropriate and unacceptable sexual behavior by the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA).

Over the course of a three-day disciplinary hearing, it was revealed that the 32-year-old educator had taken two colleagues back to his residence after social gatherings and subsequently assaulted them. Despite denying the allegations, claiming that all interactions were consensual, the panel concluded that Mr. Anderton had indeed brought two fellow staff members to his home and committed acts of sexual misconduct.

The report detailed that during the incident, Mr. Anderton groped Witness C, restrained her physically, and inserted his fingers into her mouth, which resulted in visible bruises and scratches. These actions were deemed serious and unacceptable.

Furthermore, the investigation uncovered that Mr. Anderton attempted to sexually touch another colleague, Witness D, under her clothing. Both women, who were described as credible and reliable witnesses, discussed the incident the following day. Witness C, in particular, reported her concerns to the school authorities three days after the event, which prompted a formal disciplinary process and a referral to the TRA.

In addition to the disciplinary proceedings, Norfolk Police conducted their own investigation. However, they decided not to pursue further action due to difficulties in gathering sufficient evidence to support criminal charges.

The TRA ultimately concluded that Mr. Anderton's conduct was of a serious nature, constituting sexual misconduct. As a result, he has been permanently barred from teaching, with no possibility of reinstatement in the future.

The educational trust overseeing Wymondham College issued a statement affirming that they had taken appropriate disciplinary measures, including his dismissal, and expressed full support for the TRA's decision. The trust emphasized that Mr. Anderton's behavior was highly unprofessional, and his apparent lack of remorse and insight into his actions suggest a significant risk of reoffending.
