MAN FAKED STABBING TO 'LURE' EX TO NORWICH ROAD BEFORE ATTACKING HER
A man deceived his former partner into going to a city street, then suddenly jumped onto her vehicle and repeatedly smashed the window, showering her with broken glass during a frightening assault.Thofojul Islam, 35, claimed to the woman that he had been stabbed, prompting her to drive to Robin Hood Road in Norwich to assist him, with her three-year-old son in the car.
During the Norwich Crown Court hearing, it was revealed that Islam, who had been under the influence of drugs, was uninjured, which led to a dispute.
Islam then "jumped onto the bonnet" of the car and "repeatedly kicked the window" as she was driving.
After falling off briefly, he climbed back on and continued kicking the glass, which shattered and caused injuries to the victim.
Islam also punched his partner two or three times in the face and attempted to "drag her out of the car." The incident from August 23 of the previous year resulted in the woman sustaining a nosebleed and cuts, though her child was unharmed.
Islam, residing on Bethel Street in Norwich, appeared before the court after admitting to charges of assault resulting in actual bodily harm, criminal damage, as well as additional offences of burglary and causing destruction.
The court sentenced him to four years and six months in total—30 months in custody followed by 24 months on licence—labeling him a dangerous offender with prior violent convictions.
His attorney highlighted Islam’s mental health issues and expressed remorse for his actions, which were influenced by drug use.
Additionally, the judge issued a five-year restraining order, prohibiting him from contacting the victims.
