MAN CONVICTED OF SERIES OF PREDATORY SEXUAL ATTACKS ON VULNERABLE WOMEN AND GIRLS
A resident of Birmingham has been found guilty of carrying out a series of predatory sexual assaults on women and girls across the area.Dean Holness, aged 38, was involved in sexual offences including multiple rapes against two women and two girls between the summer of 2022 and spring in 2023.
Holness deliberately targeted his victims, one of whom was a vulnerable girl he took to a hotel to abuse.
According to police, during his arrest and subsequent interviews, Holness denied all accusations and showed no remorse throughout his trial.
He was convicted at Birmingham Crown Court last Tuesday (17 October) and is being held in custody until his sentencing scheduled for 13 December.
The investigation was led by detectives Hannah Osborne, Christopher Jadhav-Hiep, Charlotte Broughton, and other officers from West Midlands Police’s Public Protection Unit, who conducted thorough inquiries to secure the convictions after the victims came forward.
DC Broughton commented: "This was a joint investigation which involved specially trained officers across multiple teams.
"We would like to personally thank the survivors of Holness’ abuse for their incredible courage in coming forward and in giving their evidence before and during trial.
"Although we wish they had never had to live through their experiences, we hope that this conviction will assist with their closure and recovery.
Not only have these survivors gained the justice they truly deserve but, also, due to their bravery, they have assisted in intervening in a pattern of sexual offending and protecting other women and children.
