COVENTRY SEX OFFENDER JAILED AFTER MOVING IN WITH WOMAN WITHOUT REVEALING PAST
A man from Coventry, David Prince, has been sentenced to prison after moving in with a woman without informing her of his past as a convicted sex offender.
Prince, aged 49 and residing on Gloucester Street, was convicted of serious sex offenses, including rape and sexual assault, and is considered a high-risk offender.
He pleaded guilty to failing to register as a sex offender and breaching a sexual harm prevention order.
The court heard that between October last year and July this year, while maintaining his own flat, Prince failed to disclose an additional address at which he was residing, breaching his registration requirements.
Additionally, he violated a sexual harm prevention order that prohibited him from being at addresses with children without police knowledge and consent and from having unsupervised contact with children.
The offenses were linked to his relationship with a woman he had started dating last year, whom he kept at her home without disclosing his criminal background.
During this period, he came into contact with her young relatives, including her 13-year-old niece and a 16-year-old girl.
The relationship ended after she discovered his convictions online.
Prince, who also had a prior conviction for breaching a sexual harm prevention order in 2011, represented himself in court, stating financial reasons prevented him from hiring legal aid.
The judge, Recorder William Davis, sentenced him to two years and four months in prison and imposed a restraining order to prevent contact with the woman.
