A 25-year-old man, David Penman, put two women through brutal sex attack ordeals, as reported in court.
Penman admitted to assaulting one woman with intent to rape her and, four months later, carrying out a knife-point rape in a students' halls of residence.
In the first incident, he entered a house in Inverness without permission during the night, attacked the middle-aged occupant, threatened to kill her, and touched her body.
The second attack involved Penman entering Dalneigh Halls of Residence, where he seized a young woman, pressed a knife against her throat, threatened to kill her, and then forced her into a bedroom to rape her.
The judge, Lord Kingarth, remanded Penman in custody and ordered that his name be placed on the sex offenders' register.
The case was adjourned for social and psychiatric reports until the following Wednesday, when further details of the attacks are expected to be provided.
