WIGAN PAEDOPHILE DAVID PEK SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS FOR ABUSE AND ATTEMPTED RAPE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Wigan, a man named David Pek has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 15 years after being convicted of multiple heinous crimes involving a young girl. The offences, which took place over a span of several years, include a series of sexual assaults and an attempted rape, highlighting the severity and brutality of his actions.
David Pek, aged 34 and residing in Tyldesley, Wigan, was found guilty of nine separate charges following a comprehensive trial at Manchester Crown Court.
The charges included seven counts of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13, one count of attempted rape, and an additional charge of inciting a child under 13 into sexual activity.
Despite maintaining his innocence throughout the proceedings, Pek was convicted after a seven-day trial that commenced in November.
The court heard harrowing details of the abuse, which occurred between 2009 and 2012, a period during which Pek lived at three different addresses in Little Hulton and at an unspecified caravan site.
The victim, who was between the ages of eight and 12 at the time of the assaults, confided in a teacher about the abuse, which ultimately led to Pek’s arrest.
The court was informed that Pek had told the young girl that she would not be believed if she reported what had happened, and warned her that she would face trouble if she disclosed the abuse.
This manipulation and intimidation added to the trauma experienced by the victim.
Judge Michael Leeming, who presided over the case and delivered the sentence, expressed his concern over the lasting impact of Pek’s actions.
He noted that the victim now suffers from anxiety and depression as a direct result of the abuse inflicted upon her.
The judge described the offences as terrifying and emphasized the gravity of Pek’s conduct.
In a victim impact statement read aloud in court, the young girl described how her life has been fundamentally altered by Pek’s crimes.
She conveyed her ongoing struggles with mental health issues, including anxiety and depression, which continue to affect her daily life.
The court’s decision to impose a 15-year prison sentence reflects the seriousness with which the justice system views such predatory behaviour and the need to protect vulnerable children from further harm.
David Pek’s conviction and subsequent sentencing serve as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and intervention in cases of child abuse.
The community of Wigan and surrounding areas are urged to remain alert and supportive of victims, ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable for their actions and that justice is served to prevent such tragedies from recurring.
