David Moffat previously admitted a campaign of domestic abuse, including sending doctored naked pictures.

A woman in Fife, protected from her ex-partner by a court order, was subjected to acid attack and house fire threats weeks after he was released from prison.

Moffat also sent nude photographs of the woman to her, her new partner, and the man's mother.

Before a jury trial scheduled at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, Moffat pled guilty to a five-week campaign of domestic abuse last March and April.

He is on the sex offenders register until 2034 and was brought to court from HMP Perth, where he was on remand for around 10 months.

The court warned that a three-year prison sentence is possible, but chose to monitor him in the community with a community payback order to better protect the public.

During the diversion, Moffat must undertake offence-focused work, complete the Up2U healthy relationships course, and adhere to strict conditions, including bans from entering Fife, undertaking alcohol misuse counseling, and avoiding the use of internet devices without permission.

He must also inform social workers of any new relationships and cannot clear his internet browsing history.

The sheriff issued a 10-year non-harassment order, and Moffat is to return for a review in a month, with a potential three-year prison sentence if he breaches the order.
