BECCLES MAN DAVID KING, 69, JAILED FOR THREE YEARS FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE
A 69-year-old man from Suffolk named David King has received a three-year prison sentence after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a young girl aged three. The court was informed that King had touched the girl inappropriately between her legs during a visit to his residence in the early 1990s.
Several years later, he also made an attempt to engage in sexual activity with her when she was under 10 years old, during another visit.
Although he denied two counts of indecent assault and one count of indecency with a child, a jury convicted him following a trial in June.
King, who resides on Old Farm Road in Beccles, was acquitted of three additional charges he had contested.
Besides the three-year imprisonment, he was also ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely.
During the sentencing hearing, the victim, who attended remotely, described enduring feelings of numbness, difficulties forming relationships, and reported the abuse to police in 2020 after a four-year delay caused by court delays due to the pandemic.
She expressed that her life had been dominated by shame and guilt.
The court noted that King maintains his innocence, and his lawyer highlighted his wife’s poor health and her age of 81, suggesting he might not see her again if imprisoned.
Detective Constable Samuel Jones acknowledged the victim’s bravery and reaffirmed the police’s dedication to seeking justice for victims of sexual abuse.
