BECCLES MAN SENTENCED FOR INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN
A Suffolk man who became addicted to viewing indecent images and videos of children has been given a community order.Police officers seized 32-year-old Daniel Andrews’ mobile phone after a tip from the National Crime Agency revealed more than 700 indecent images and videos of children aged between three months and 14.
At Ipswich Crown Court, Andrews of Pinewood Gardens, Beccles, admitted three offences of making indecent images of children, including 118 still indecent images and 236 videos in the most serious level A category, 178 still images and 57 videos in category B, and 174 still images and 60 videos in level C.
He received a two-year community order, a 25-day rehabilitation activity requirement, and 100 hours of unpaid work.
Andrews was also issued a sexual harm prevention order for five years and ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for the same period.
Judge Nicola Talbot-Hadley stated Andrews was lonely when he committed these offences in 2023 and that his viewing of indecent images had 'spiralled into addiction.' She noted, however, that Andrews had since stopped viewing such images and had good support.
The prosecutor, Godfried Duah, mentioned Andrews had no previous convictions and had been candid with police.
His lawyer, Marc Brown, highlighted Andrews’ loneliness and internet overuse, warning that 'once that starts it can become addictive.'
