PERTH SEX PREDATOR FOUND GUILTY OF SLEEPING GIRL ASSAULT
David Gordon forced himself upon his 15-year-old victim while she was asleep and incapable of giving consent. She woke to find him curled up beside her, with her clothing and underwear moved and his hand between her legs.
Gordon, 29, immediately apologised to the young girl and repeatedly told her: “I’m going to fix this.” Gordon, who has an extensive criminal record, denied a charge of sexually assaulting the teenager by digital penetration while she was asleep and unable to consent.
He was tried at Perth Sheriff Court and found guilty after a jury deliberation.
Sentencing was deferred for background reports, but Gordon could face a custodial sentence.
He muttered a remark about his victim to the jury as he was being led away, which could lead to contempt of court charges.
Gordon has previous convictions, including an assault and knife offence from 2018 and a 2017 incident where he was caught on CCTV stealing a £500,000 BMW while impersonating police officers.
The sheriff placed Gordon on the sex offenders register and indicated a custodial sentence is inevitable.
