2000: DROITWICH SPA SEX PEST JAILED FOR SIX YEARS AFTER BREAKING INTO WOMAN'S HOME
A man accused of forcibly entering a woman’s residence in Droitwich Spa at midnight with intent to sexually assault her has been sentenced to six years in prison.The defendant, 36-year-old David Everitt from Moat Farm, Stock Green, near Inkberrow, was convicted by a jury in June of burglary with the intent to rape.
He was found on a roof, halfway through a window, when the woman confronted him dressed in pajamas.
She responded by poking him in the eyes, causing him to withdraw.
Prior to the trial, Everitt pleaded guilty to indecent assault.
Judge Michael Mott addressed the court, stating that his actions had caused significant fear to the victim and had forced her to leave her home.
It was also noted that Everitt, who living with his father, had six previous convictions related to indecent exposure, including one where he injured a man after driving over him upon spotting him and a woman engaging in sexual activity on a cricket pitch.
His past crimes include an 18-month jail sentence for assault and dangerous driving.
During the recent incident, it was established that Everitt saw the woman working on her hedge, and after she refused to accept his invitation for a drink, he broke into her house following heavy drinking.
Inside, he groped her during a struggle and expressed his desire to have sex.
The woman fought him off, leading to his arrest when police detained him at 5 a.m.
as he returned in a taxi.
Everitt claimed his intention was solely to view her and that he panicked after being caught.
His defense explained that he led a solitary farm life and drank alcohol to cope with stress, which he said contributed to his criminal behavior.
The judge ordered that he be registered as a sex offender for life.
