DAVID CULLEN FROM PERTH AND WREXHAM CAUSES HAVOC AT WEDDING REHEARSAL
A disturbing incident unfolded during a wedding rehearsal involving David Cullen, a 51-year-old man with ties to both Perth and Wrexham.The event took a violent turn when Cullen, who had consumed a significant amount of alcohol—at least eight pints of cider—became uncontrollably aggressive and disruptive.
Witnesses reported that Cullen was 'absolutely raging' drunk, which precipitated the chaos that ensued.
According to court proceedings, the trouble began when Cullen had a minor disagreement with the groom, Daniel Jones.
This altercation quickly escalated as Cullen, in a state of intoxication, issued a violent threat to Mr.
Jones, shouting, 'I'll carve your face up and chew your face off.' His aggressive behavior did not stop there; he also threatened to break the jaw of the bride’s sister, further alarming those present.
During the incident, Cullen tore off his shirt and challenged other wedding guests to fight him, loudly proclaiming, 'I'm a hard man,' in an attempt to intimidate those around him.
Eyewitnesses and court testimonies revealed that Cullen’s actions included ripping his shirt and issuing violent threats aimed at intimidating others at the Glyngynwydd Wedding Barn near Llangurig, Powys.
His sister, Jacqueline Waugh, expressed her concern, stating that she believed Cullen appeared as if he wanted to kill the groom.
The court heard that Cullen admitted to assaulting Mrs.
Jones, Mrs.
Waugh, and her husband during the incident.
Defense attorneys described Cullen’s outburst as 'entirely out of character,' emphasizing that his behavior was mainly an emotional reaction rather than a premeditated act.
They also pointed out that the physical injuries sustained were minimal, with Cullen being the only individual who suffered any harm.
Despite this, Cullen was held accountable for his actions and was subsequently fined £800 along with a surcharge of £320 for his disruptive and threatening conduct during the wedding rehearsal.
