GOSPORT MAN JAILED FOR STABBING WOMAN IN DOMESTIC ASSAULT
In an incident that took place in the Bridgemary area at around 5:30 PM on September 26 last year, David James Cowlishaw had a dispute with a woman in her 30s at her home.During this dispute, he brandished a knife and made threats in the presence of her child.
He then stabbed her in the left side of her thigh, causing an injury that requires ongoing specialist treatment.
Emergency responders were called to the scene, but Cowlishaw initially gave false information to the authorities and left before they arrived.
He was later arrested the following day and charged with causing grievous bodily harm and criminal damage, which included damaging the woman's front door.
Cowlishaw appeared in Portsmouth Crown Court on December 23, 2021, where he pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent and to criminal damage.
On February 18, he was sentenced to three years incarceration.
Detective Constable Dana Mabe, the lead investigator, commented: “This was a distressing incident for the victim and her child, both of whom have shown remarkable resilience.
Cowlishaw is a dangerous individual, and his actions were reprehensible.
The woman's injury continues to be treated and has a profound impact on her life.
