    In September 2022, a disturbing case unfolded involving David Cooper, a 35-year-old man from Widnes, who was convicted of attempting to engage in sexual activities with a minor through online communications. Cooper, a father of three and a diagnostic technician working for a prominent car manufacturing company, found his personal and professional life shattered as a result of his actions.

    Cooper had been actively pursuing a teenage girl, known by the alias 'Grace,' via the messaging platform Kik Messenger. Unbeknownst to him, 'Grace' was actually an undercover police officer assigned to monitor and apprehend individuals seeking to exploit minors online. During their exchanges, Cooper expressed awareness of the potential consequences of his actions, acknowledging that if his illicit conversations were discovered, he could face severe repercussions, including losing his job and freedom. He confided in the girl that her mother would be furious if she knew about their chats, and he admitted,
