MAN WHO ATTACKED MUM IN SCOTSTOUN AVOIDS JAIL AT GLASGOW SHERIFF COURT
A thug who fractured four of his mum's ribs in a brutal assault avoided jail today.David Carrigan, 35, turned on the woman at her home in Glasgow's Scotstoun on May 30 2025.
Glasgow Sheriff Court heard how Carrigan, under the influence of alcohol, entered his mother's bedroom and attacked her, grabbing her by the jumper and leggings, pulling her around the room, then punching her in the abdomen and face.
He continued the assault by dragging her around, kicking and punching her to the body, and spraying room spray on her head.
The police were contacted and officers found Carrigan lying on the bed with his mother on the floor, visibly injured, with ripped clothing and in a distressed state.
She had complained of pain in her ribs and difficulty breathing, revealing four fractured ribs and tissue damage to her face.
Carrigan also kicked PC Gary Morrison in the groin before he was arrested.

Martin was taken to hospital.
Carrigan pleaded guilty to assaulting her causing severe injury and admitted to assaulting a police officer.
Sheriff Jonathan Guy ordered him to do 300 hours of unpaid work, pay £250 in compensation, and be under supervision for one year.
