PERTH MAN JAILED FOR STRANGLING PARTNER IN DOMESTIC HOMICIDE
David Anderson, who confessed to strangling his partner Louise O'Brien following an argument over cooking, has received a six-year prison sentence. The High Court in Glasgow was informed that Ms.
O'Brien's body was discovered in her bed, with a heart-shaped piece of chocolate placed beside her.
Anderson, originally charged with murder, pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of culpable homicide.
The court learned that after the incident, Anderson used Ms.
O'Brien’s phone to send messages to her young son, attempting to suggest she was still alive.
Justice Lord Boyd noted that Anderson appeared to be 'clearly in love' with Ms.
O'Brien and remarked that only he knew the truth behind what happened between them.
The judge also called Anderson’s act of messaging her son from her phone 'chilling.' Ms.
O'Brien was last seen on April 24 and was found dead four days later on April 28.
During this period, Anderson claimed sickness, saying he was unwell due to an upset stomach, and was seen wandering alone in Perth city centre.
Investigations uncovered that Anderson had searched online for terms related to murder allegations and incarceration.
On the day her body was found, Anderson contacted his mother, expressing regret and stating, 'I've done something terrible and I haven't been able to cope with it for days.' He also attempted to harm himself, saying, 'I tried to hurt myself because I couldn't handle it.' Evidence pointed to premeditation and deception, shedding light on the tragic sequence of events.
