BOYFRIEND'S REVENGE LEAVES WOMAN'S HOME DEVASTATED AND OFFENDER JAILED

A boyfriend trashed the living room at the home of his partner in a revenge attack after he thought she was cheating on him.

The woman returned to her one-bedroom flat to find 20-year-old Davices Anderson drunk under a blanket on the sofa on December 23.

Three holes had been punched in a door, the living room was trashed, there was damage to wifi equipment, five smashed picture frames on the floor and a large mirror broken.

The contents of foundation had been thrown on walls, and Christmas presents for her daughter opened and damaged.

Tom Heath, prosecuting, told the court: "She confronted him and asked him what he had done and he said 'I've done it because I think you are cheating on me." The woman called police but Anderson fled; jumping over a fence into a neighbour's garden.

He was found the following morning.

He pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage on the basis he caused damage to certain items, including a photo frames and a wifi hub, but not to a toilet seat and blinds.

The damage was £1,500.

Anderson has 40 previous convictions for 90 offences, including a battery offence involving his now former partner and breaching a domestic violence prevention order.

Mr Heath said the criminal damage was high culpability - "a revenge attack on his perceived perception of infidelity on the girlfriend's part".

Nick Walsh, mitigating, said it was relatively a long-term relationship between them and it has not been without its difficulties.

Anderson was given a "substantial leaving care grant" and it was spent buying items for her flat with the intention of setting up home together.

He damaged some items which belonged to him.

Judge Steven Coupland said Anderson had entered the house without her express permission and smashed up a lot of the contents and a proportion of those were Anderson's.

"It was a deliberate revenge attack by you for what you perceived she had done wrong," he said.

Anderson, of Hooton Road, Carlton, was on bail awaiting sentencing when he carried out a house burglary, which the judge also sentenced him for.

He received six months for breaching a suspended prison sentence, one-month consecutive for criminal damage and six months consecutive for the burglary - where he had taken a key to a room and stolen items.

A restraining order was imposed for five years to stay away from his former partner.
