NOTTINGHAMSHIRE MAN ADRIAN LYNCH JAILED FOR STALKING AND HARASSMENT
A stalker who became infatuated with two women hid in a bush outside a house to spy on one of his victims - while harassing another with hundreds of calls and texts.Adrian Lynch targeted his two victims, who he knew from years earlier, last August.
One was bombarded with unwanted phone calls and messages after he tricked a relative into giving him her number.
Despite not speaking to the woman for nearly 20 years beforehand, he ignored her requests to stop.
Nottinghamshire Police said he instead sent a string of inappropriate messages that left her fearing for her safety.
At around the same time, Lynch was also subjecting another woman - also a previous acquaintance - to unwanted contact.
He would regularly bang on her door in the middle of the night and shouted at her from the street.
He was also caught staring at her through a set of binoculars and on one occasion was spotted hiding in the bushes in her next door neighbour's garden.
Lynch was connected to both offences when they were reported to police, with the 47-year-old assaulting an officer and subjecting others in attendance to vitriol when he was arrested on August 29.
He later pleaded guilty to separate charges of stalking involving serious alarm/distress, harassment to put someone in fear of violence, assaulting an emergency worker, and a public order offence.
Lynch, of Corsham Gardens, Carlton, appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday (January 14), where he received a 20-month prison sentence.
He was also made subject to separate restraining orders banning him from contacting either women in any way.
Both orders will last until the court orders otherwise.
Nottinghamshire Police's Detective Constable Hannah Lees stated that Lynch left his victims fearing for their safety through sustained unwanted contact.
One woman was bombarded with around 450 calls and texts from him before blocking his number.
Another was left believing Lynch was always watching her after he was found spying through binoculars and hiding in a bush near her house.
Detective Chief Inspector Nick Wood emphasized the department's commitment to dealing with stalking and assured support for victims.
