DAVE VALDEZ SCOTTISH DJ CAUGHT IN EDINBURGH CHILD SEX ABUSE SCANDAL
Sentencing EDINBURGH DJ JAILED FOR CHILD ABUSE AND ONLINE GROOMINGA conviction has been handed down to a perpetrator described by a sheriff as “every parent’s nightmare” after he recorded a young schoolgirl while coercing her into performing disturbing sexual acts during a live video call. The offender, Dave Angelo Valdez, 25, manipulated a 14-year-old girl into performing solo sexual acts for him, all while secretly capturing the moments on his laptop and sending videos of himself masturbating during the contact on chat platforms Emerald and Skype. The police investigation discovered that Valdez had been in possession of numerous indecent images and videos of children, with around 2,000 such items, including several rated as Category A, which is the most severe level.
Less than a year before the police raids, in November 2021, authorities seized evidence related to child abuse images downloaded at his residence in Edinburgh, where he is known to be a popular dance DJ who has performed at prominent clubs in the city.Valdez admitted to multiple offences in court, including four counts of child sex abuse and possession of indecent images of children between April 23, 2019, and November 10, 2021.
Additionally, he pleaded guilty to causing children to engage in sexual activities and viewing sexual images of children between January 1 and March 31, 2021.
During the police raid, officers recovered approximately 2,000 images and videos, including hundreds classified as Category A.
The court heard that Valdez made 43 'first-generation' videos of the victim during their online interactions.Sheriff Matthew Auchincloss described the victim as “particularly vulnerable” and stated that Valdez’s explanation for his crimes was “self-serving and lacking in any remorse.” The sheriff further remarked, “You are every parent’s nightmare.
You used the internet to take advantage of children in their own homes in secret.
We may never know the full extent of the harm you caused.”For his crimes, Valdez was sentenced to a total of 40 months in prison and will be placed on the sex offenders' register for life.
Solicitor Matthew Nicholson stated that while his client accepts responsibility, he struggles to explain why he committed these offences.Valdez’s offending included sending the girl between five and ten videos of himself engaged in sexual acts, filming her without her consent, and causing her significant harm through grooming and manipulation.
The sentence reflects the severity of his crimes and the profound impact on the victim.
-------------------------------------------- A disturbing case has emerged involving Dave Valdez, a DJ based in Edinburgh, who has been linked to heinous crimes involving a young schoolgirl.
The incident came to light after authorities uncovered evidence of his involvement in child exploitation and abuse.
According to reports, Valdez, who is 25 years old, engaged in a series of criminal acts that included coercing a 14-year-old girl into sexual activities during a live video session.
The incident was recorded by Valdez himself on his mobile phone, capturing the distressing moments as he manipulated the young victim.
This act of abuse was not isolated; investigators found that Valdez had also sent her disturbing images of himself, further compounding the severity of his crimes.
The police investigation was initiated after a raid on Valdez’s residence in the Colinton Mains area of Edinburgh last year.
During the search, authorities seized multiple mobile devices, which contained a trove of illicit material.
The evidence included approximately 2,000 indecent images and videos, many classified as Category A, indicating the most severe level of child exploitation material.
Among these were images of children as young as four years old being sexually abused, highlighting the grave nature of the offenses.
Valdez’s criminal record now includes a designation as a sex offender, and he has been cautioned by a sheriff to organize his affairs as he faces the prospect of a lengthy prison sentence.
The court has scheduled a sentencing hearing for the following month, during which a judge will determine his fate.
Sheriff Matthew Auchincloss remarked during the hearing that, due to Valdez being a first-time offender, a criminal justice social work report is required before sentencing.
He also indicated that a custodial sentence appears very likely given the gravity of the crimes committed.
During the court proceedings at Edinburgh Sheriff Court, Valdez pleaded guilty to charges of causing a child to engage in sexual activity and possessing indecent images.
The prosecution revealed that the offender initially made contact with the victim through the chat platform Emerald, before shifting their conversations to Skype in January 2021.
Valdez requested the girl to send risqué images and recorded explicit video calls with her, further demonstrating his predatory behavior.
Authorities recovered a significant amount of illicit material from Valdez’s devices, underscoring the extent of his involvement in online grooming and exploitation.
The case underscores the ongoing dangers posed by online predators and the importance of safeguarding children from digital abuse, especially in an era where online grooming has become an increasingly prevalent concern.
