2014: JAILED: THE SERIAL ARSONIST WHO STARTS FIRES AT EX-PARTNERS' HOMES
A serial arsonist convicted of setting fire to his former wife’s refuse bins in Wallbrook Grove, Farnworth, and having previously ignited her garden the previous year, was recently sentenced. After his release from prison on February 14, he stayed at Emma Perkin’s apartment in Felton Walk, Astley Bridge.
During her absence, he deliberately set her living room ablaze, causing extensive damage to clothes, furniture, electrical devices, and sentimental possessions, according to Bolton Crown Court.
Investigations confirmed the fire was intentionally started, with officers finding two separate ignition points.
Lomax, aged 38 and without a fixed address, claimed he fell asleep after heavy drinking, which he argued led to an accidental fire.
Nonetheless, he pleaded guilty to intentionally setting the fire while aware that lives could be endangered.
The judge, Elliot Knopf, sentenced him to four years in a high-security prison, with an extra two years on license.
A restraining order was also issued to prevent contact with Ms Perkin.
The court recognized a recurring pattern of Lomax visiting former partners’ homes and initiating fires.
