SENIOR FIRE OFFICER JAILED FOR OFFERING VOUCHERS TO MEET BABY

A senior firefighter responsible for fire safety has been sentenced to prison after attempting to pay a paedophile with Amazon gift cards in exchange for access to a one-year-old child.

Darren Hunt, aged 50, employed by Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, arranged the meeting online with Henry Ogden of Cumbria.

According to Stafford Crown Court, the National Crime Agency (NCA) launched an investigation after being alerted by Twitter.

Hunt pleaded guilty to multiple sexual offences involving minors and was sentenced to 22 months in prison.

Henry Ogden, 29, from Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, was also sentenced on the same day, receiving a prison term of 31 months after admitting to five counts of distributing obscene material.
