SERIAL RAPIST DARREL ROSE SENTENCED TO LIFE WITH MINIMUM 18 YEARS
36-year-old Darrel Rose, a convicted rapist, has been given a minimum sentence of 18 years after being found guilty of assaulting two women. His previous 17-year prison term for a 2018 rape was extended with this new sentence.
The Metropolitan Police re-investigated the case after another woman reported she had also been assaulted by Rose.
The two victims, one in her twenties and another who had retracted her earlier complaint, endured violent sexual assaults in various locations in London from December 2010 to June 2016.
Police confirmed Rose carried out vicious attacks during this period.
After a comprehensive investigation and a three-week trial, Rose was convicted in May of seven counts of rape—three relating to one woman and four to the other—plus offenses of assault by penetration and non-consensual sexual activity.
He has no permanent address and was sentenced at Croydon Crown Court to life imprisonment, with a minimum of 18 years.
Detective Sergeant Laura Thomas from the Metropolitan Police’s South Area Public Protection Unit stated, “Darrel Rose’s treatment of the victims was both degrading and abusive.
His conduct was emotionally and physically damaging, and this sentence reflects the seriousness of his crimes.
The victims have shown great courage in coming forward, and I commend their resilience.
We continue to support them and encourage anyone with further information to contact the police.”
